Sydney Walking Tour - When Rum Ran the Rocks
Description
‘When Rum Ran the Rocks’ is a 3 hour long walking tour of Australia's first settlement, carved from the soaring sandstone cliffs that are the backdrop to Sydney Harbour. Your guide will tell amazing tales of this convict settlement; stories of hardship and survival, of struggle and ingenuity. Step back through the corridors of time, as you wind your way through alleyways and cobble stone streets, and past historical architecture that were the beginnings of this fledgling colony. Be entranced with convict tales and stories of the rum rebellion – the beginnings of Australian history.
Roam the once seedy back alleyways of the Rocks, which were once filled with ruffians and opportunists. Relax and enjoy as your guide regales you with more fascinating stories of this iconic area.
You will then trek deeper into more 'off the track' sectors of the Rocks, where you will learn about some distinctive characters who frequented the area in colonial times. You will visit a truly unique archaeological site before enjoying a local beer, and finally, another beverage at one of the historic pubs before heading home.
