Description
Experience what it's really like on an iconic Aussie sheep station, with a day tour immersed in the Australian outback. Venture 70 minutes into rural NSW for a real Aussie bush experience including a visit to Tobruk Sheep Station. First stop is Canoelands Orchard where you will journey through the orchard on a tractor ride as you learn how the fruit is grown. If you're lucky enough to visit between November and January then you can hand pick your own stone fruit (own expense). Choose from nectarines, plums, peaches, tomatoes and more.
Next you'll visit Tobruk Sheep Station for a truly authentic outback sheep station experience. Watch whip cracking and boomerang throwing demonstrations. At Drover’s Camp you’ll be treated to traditional stockman’s tucker consisting of billy tea and damper around the campfire. Enjoy genuine billy tea straight from the campfire while the damper dough is cooked on the embers of the campfire.
Witness the amazing talent of a stockman at work with his sheep dog. Watch as the stockman instructs his dog to muster a mob of sheep into a pen. Make sure your camera is ready to capture the moment the dog lands himself on the back of an uncooperative sheep. Next, watch on as shearers display their skills shearing sheep as you learn about life as a shearer!
As you recall all the excitement thus far, enjoy a tasty Aussie BBQ lunch. You'll be treated to steak, salad and more which will be topped off with a delicious desert of traditional lamington cake.
Following lunch, enjoy a relaxing wine tasting at Tizzana Winery. Sample some of their best cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and muscat varieties as well as olives, cheese and biscuits. Next up is a visit to Australia's oldest church, Ebenezer, established in 1809. Complete the day with a brief stop in the colonial town of Windsor. Wander through the boutique stores and enjoy some afternoon tea if you desire (own expense) before boarding the coach back to Sydney.
