Things to do in Noosa - Fraser Island Day Tour - Noosa River Cruises
The heart of Queensland's Sunshine Coast is Noosa, where Australian families have been flocking for their holidays for what seems like forever. The reasons are self evident; great weather, beautiful beaches with top surf breaks for all levels, fine dining and accommodation to suit all budgets. The hub of activity night and day is along Hastings St and on Main Beach just next to it. But the crowds can be escaped by exploring the headland, offering incredible views, in Noosa National Park, and then on to the south is the larger, and more relaxed, Sunshine Beach.
If you want a quieter time of it there are plenty of other options besides Noosa with just as good if not better beaches, such as Peregian or Coolum. In the Great Sandy National Park just to the north you’ll find the World Heritage-listed Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, one of the most wonderful coastal landscapes you’ll find anywhere. With untouched rainforests, crystal clear lakes, the stunning 120km long beach and the odd dingo, take it all in with hiking, 4WD driving along the dunes and through the forest’s sandy ‘roads’, and camping under the stars. Fraser Island is best accessed by driving up the beach from Noosa, a truly unique way to travel. Tour operators like Fraser Island Discovery offer guided tours to this world heritage site from Noosa daily.
