Take in all the glory of the sites, including some of the highest vertical sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere at the awe-inspiring Cape Pillar. See the majestic Slender Dolerite spires and sea stacks, such as the Candlestick, Cathedral Rock and the Totem Pole. Tasman Islands flying-fox and haulage way will amaze you while drifting below the islands sheer crags or entering the deep sea caves will leave you spellbound.

As the friendly tour guides takes you through this astonishingly scenic wonderland, be amazed at the wildlife that flourishes in this area. See dolphins, seals and all varieties of sea birds as they enjoy their native landscape. The custom made eco-cruisers you travel in gives you the opportunity to get closer than you ever thought possible.

With all the options available, you’re sure to find one that suits. Drive yourself to Port Arthur (1.5 hrs. from Hobart) for access to the 3 hour cruise, or take in one of the three other available Full Day Tours from Hobart.

Day Tour with Tasman Peninsula
Included in this tour is a return trip from Hobart, a three-hour guided cruise, and a delicious morning tea and lunch. The guides know and love this area, and have no problem showing off this wonderland. They will introduce you to stunning sites like Remarkable Cave, Palmers Lookout, the township of Nubeena and the Federation Chocolate Factory, before returning to Hobart.

Day Tour with Tasmanian Devil Park
As the afternoon settles in, you’re granted access to the wonderful Tasmanian Devil Conservation Park. This is where you can view the Tasmanian Devil in its natural environment. You’ll also get to see other animals like kangaroos, wallabies and the very loveable possum. Then, enjoy the free-flight bird show, before settling back on the bus and taking the relaxing journey back to Hobart. Included in this tour is a return trip from Hobart, a three-hour guided cruise, and a delicious morning tea and lunch.

We had a fantastic time it was a surreal experience to be greeted by schools of dolphins, sleepy seals. Fascinating rock cliffs and what a majestic sight. Staff were engaging and informative.

My Holland America ship docks @ 8am on 2/14/17. I want to take the Coastal Wilderness Cruise but I can't drive. How can I get to Port Arthur where the boat tour begins? I can't use your "chat" because I don't know how to send my message.

Yes there are transfers available from Hobart for the Tasman Island cruise, If you click on the link below just select the full day option from Hobart. Pick up is from Franklin wharf on Hobart's waterfront at 7.45am.

What are the times for the 3hr cruise

The Tasman Island cruise departs once a day at 9.30am and returns at 1.30pm back to Port Arthur. If you require transfers from Hobart then the shuttle departs Franklin wharf at 7.45am and returns by 6pm.

What size are the craft that are used? How many people do they carry? Are they conducive to sea sickness, or "anti-suspect tummy" type craft?

Hi Ray. The Tasman island boats are ideal for eco-cruising in the ever-changing waters of South East Tasmania. They were designed for comfort, safety, stability and ease of viewing. Open-air tiered seating gives each passenger an excellent all-round view. An open sided design ensures a direct connection with nature, not enclosed behind glass. Each boat carries a maximum of 43 passengers, delivering an intimate and personal eco-cruising experience.

These 12.5 metre vessels are powered by three 300 hp Mercury Verado supercharged 4-stroke engines. Electronically-balanced for high fuel efficiency and the quietest operation, they are the world's lowest emission power plants of their type. These highly manoeuvrable boats allow skippers to take their guests into some of the dramatic deep sea caves scattered along the coastline, and right up close to the towering Jurassic Dolerite cliffs and rock formations. Each boat is equipped with onboard toilet facilities. Life jackets are carried for all passengers, both adults and children, however these are not required to be worn during the trip.

There is always the risk of sea sickness in any boat so if you do suffer then I would recommend visiting a pharmacy to get a sea sickness remedy beforehand.
