The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary & River Cruise is an exquisite five-hour tour from the Cultural Centre Pontoon in the heart of Brisbane, to the world's first and largest koala sanctuary at Lone Pine. Gliding through the sparkling waters of the Brisbane River on a modern cruise boat with on-board catering – past historic 'Queenslanders' and majestic avant-garde waterfront mansions – is the ultimate luxury adventure. You will enjoy interesting and amusing narration from your friendly Captain, who will astound you with his consummate knowledge of the local area. Enjoy iconic attractions and a plethora of wildlife along the River's shores, as well as exotic Australian parrots in full flight, and sleepy fruit bats snoozing in the mangroves. For 70 years, this cruise has ferried visitors and locals alike to the sanctuary, thus ensuring its reputation as one of the 'must-do' activities in Brisbane.

Prepare to spend two and a half hours exploring the Sanctuary, amid some of Australia's cutest unique animals. Set in lush parkland, you will meet more than 130 koalas – who love a cuddle – and kangaroos – who enjoy being hand-fed.  Watch the amazing Australian sheep dog show and the extraordinary skills of the shearers during the sheep-shearing spectacle. As a bonus, there is the remarkable 'birds of prey' demonstration, which will have you marvelling at the skills of both birds and handlers. Just as spectacular are the large array of wild lorikeets that fly into Lone Pine to feed, on a daily basis.

One of the most extraordinary exhibits at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the amazing Platypus House, where you will enjoy watching these shy little creatures enjoy their watery playground. The elusive platypus – a semi-aquatic mammal – is also a monotreme, which lays eggs instead of giving birth like other mammals. Featured in Indigenous Dreaming stories, this fascinating little animal – that has the tail of a beaver, the bill of a duck, and feet of an otter – can be observed in the recreation of its natural habitat. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an animal lover's paradise!
