Hi, do you pick up from cruise ships? If not where do we go

    Comments

They do not collect from the cruise ship dock, you would need to make your way to the Reef Fleet Terminal to board the boat. But they do half-day tours with a later departure, so depending on when your cruise ship was arriving, you should be able to join a trip!

Is it easy to board boat and glass bottom boat.? Can I take my walking aid on main boat.

    Comments

It is fairly easy to board the boat, but you may have issues with getting on board the glass bottom boat as this is loaded from the back of the first boat. You would require some mobility to step over the small gap between boats and then to get to a seat. You could take a walking aid on to the main boat, but there wouldn't be much room or any use for it on the glass bottom boat. But you can certainly take one with you for your time on Green Island.

Does the glass bottom boat tour take place during the two hours on Green Island? Do we have to book the trip or can we just arrive there in the morning?

    Comments

The glass bottom boat tour would take place in this time, so you would have a 30 minute tour and then the rest of the time to explore the Island. I would recommend booking ahead for your preferred date and time, as this is a popular trip and does book up in advance.

    Comments

Hi there, yes this boat is pram friendly. The beach areas are not practical for prams, however, there are boardwalks and pathways throughout the island that are suitable.

I am traveling with Carnival Cruises, how can I get from the cruise to your tour?

    Comments

Hi Janette, Carnival cruises dock at Yorkeys Knob which is about a 40 minute drive to Cairns. You can get transfers though from Yorkeys Knob Boats Club at 8.00am for the 9.00am departure, 10.10am for the 11am departure and 12.10pm for the 1.00pm departure. One way is $11 or it's $22 for return transfers

    Dear Sirs,
We are looking for a trip to Great Barrier Reef from Cairns with pickup from the Cruise Ship Terminal on 18th of Feb. 2018. We have a party of 5 - 4 adults and 1 12 year old. We would like to have both snorkel for 4 of the members and submersible for all.

Our ship is the Radiance of the Seas. It docks at 7:00am and sails at 5:00pm. We would be able to leave at 7:30am with a return around 3:30pm to 4:00pm. All passengers must be on board 30 minutes prior to sailing at 5pm.

would there be parking close by?

    Comments

Hi Robyn! Absolutely, just next to the reef fleet terminal there is parking for $1.20 an hour. Also just across from the cruise liner terminal, there's a car park with $3 all day parking and it's just a 10 minute walk from the reef fleet terminal. Warm Regards, Sally

Is this cruise and the glass bottom boat suitable for a three year old? If so, do I need to book a ticket for her?

    Comments

Yes your 3 year old can certainly do the cruise over the Green Island and also the glass bottom boat. Kids under 4 years of age travel for free so you don't need to pay for a ticket for her, just book for any adults or older kids and mention in the 'additional information' field in the booking page that you have a 3 year old with you and we will add to your booking.

Hi I was wondering if you could tell me how long it takes to get from Cairns to Yorky's knob ? If I were to take the 1pm green Island cruise would i get back to the ship at Yorkys Knob in time it leaves at 6pm so I need to be back by 5:45pm

    Comments

The drive from Yorkey's Knob to Cairns marina is about 20 minutes. The 1pm Green Island half day trip returns to Cairns marina by 5pm so you will have time to grab a taxi back to Yorkey's Knob before your boat departs.

How much is the semi-sub tour, and can you combine it with the glass bottom boat tour?

    Thanks

    Comments

The Green Island semi sub tour is $20 for adults and $10 for kids. You can book this once you arrive  on Green Island from Cairns as there are trips departing every hour. The semi sub tour and glass bottom boat tour are on different boats but there is plenty of time to do both while on Green Island.

My husband and I are seniors/pensioners and would like to go on a glass bottom boat and see sea life and a cruise as well. We would be staying in a nearby hotel on 21 Apr 2013. How long would this last and how much discounts are seniors given.
    Thank you.
    Seema

    Comments

    Hi Seema,

I'm sorry there are no discounts for seniors.

The half day cruise departs at 9am and 1pm and lasts 4 hours. It's a great trip, nice and relaxing with plenty of opportunity to see sea life.

We will be on a cruise and only in Cairns this trip for a short time unlike our last trip to Cairns when we spent 4 days on a reef tour. Could you tell me if you have any pick up service at the cruise ship port Celebrity Millennium arriving Nov 28th? If not will be be able to get a taxi from your Marina when we return at the end of the day. Please advise.
    Thank You,
    Karen

    Comments

    Hi Karen,

Great to see you are coming back to Cairns. I'm almost certain your boat will be docking at Trinity Inlet which is a 5 min walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal where the Reef Rocket Boat departs from. The only other option would be if the Cruise Ship is docking at Yorkeys Knob Beach and ruining people in small boats to and from the shore. If this is the case you would need to get a taxi to and from Yorkeys Knob to the Reef Fleet Terminal (20 min ride). There is a large Yacht Club at this point where you can request they call you a taxi, if there are not already taxi's waiting.

    Regards,

    Nigel

Hi just wondering if we can book it when we get to Cains? Also how many people in the submarine?

    Comments

Hi Angela, yes you certainly can book the Green Island Reef Rocket cruise once you arrive in Cairns however bear in mind that activities do book out days, sometimes weeks in advance and therefore your desired days of travel may not be available once you get there.

    IS THIS SUITABLE FOR WHEELCHAIR
    OR WALKER -LADY HAS CEREBRAL
    PALSY-WANTS TO EXPERIENCE GLASS
BOTTOM BOAT VIEWING FISH & CORAL.

    IS IT A ROUGH VOYAGE

    Comments

Hi Deseree, yes Reef Rocket does cater for wheel chair access but this is limited. Passengers must have some mobility and/or the presence of a carer who can assist them. Depending on tides it may be necessary to embark/disembark from different levels on the boat. Coral viewing and glass bottom boat activities are subject to the weather and the extent of the passenger’s mobility and/or the presence of a carer who can assist. Please note that the toilets on the vessel are not wheelchair accessible but there are disabled toilets available on the island. Please advise at the time of booking in the 'additional information' box if you have any wheelchair bound passengers travelling. These guidelines apply to standard wheelchairs only. We are not able to accommodate electric wheelchairs on any of the vessels or coaches.

The voyage can be a little rough at times but the vessels are large enough that this is not really an issue. Complimentary Travel Calm ginger tablets are provided on board Reef Rocket. These are a natural tablet that eases travel and motion sickness for those that require it.

    Good afternoon,
My wife and I are both non swimmers but would like to see some of the ocean delights.
What is the cost for an adult to do the half day tour with glass bottom boat and semi-submersible viewing? (no snorkelling). We will be staying at Lake Placid caravan Park, are transfers available and if yes, at what additional cost? We've heard that the coral in this area is dead, are we likely to see any coral?
    Many thanks

    Comments

Hi Trevor and Maxine, to do the half day reef tour with glass bottom boat the price is $79 per person. Transfers are available at an additional $16 per person from Cairns. If you want to do the semi submersible viewing you can book this on the day for an additional $20. The coral in Green Island is alive but not as abundant as the outer reef. If you are wanting to see more coral/wildlife you would be better opting for an outer reef boat day trip. These trips can be found on our site under the category "Great Barrier Reef."

I will be arriving in Yorkey's Knob on Tues 3rd April on the Pacific Dawn. I am travelling in a group of 16 people & I believe most of us are interested in the Half Day Green Island Reef Cruise. I'm not sure how we would get to the Cairns Marina from the ship & even if we would make it in time as the ship is in Port from 9am - 6pm. Can you please advise if it would be possible for us to do this excursion. It sounds great !!

    Comments

Hi Helen. You wouldn't be able to make the morning Green Island half day tour with Reef Rocket as this departs from Cairns marina at 9am however you could book the 1pm departure (12.30pm check in). This returns to the Cairns marina by 5pm. The Cairns marina is located about 20 minutes drive from Yorkey's Knob so I don't know if your cruise ship has organised transfers into to town for you? If not you could get a taxi for around $35 each way.
