This picturesque beach town is the starting point for many thrilling activities, including skydiving, white water rafting and hiking. But of all of these activities, Mission Beach is best known for its world-class skydiving.

You’ll never forget the feeling of stepping out of a plane at 14,000 feet and freefalling as part of a tandem skydive, whether it’s your first or your 100th jump. The sight of turquoise waters and white sand beneath you make for an incredible memory that you will treasure for years to come.

Take a look at the skydive Mission Beach trip options from Everything Australia to get a better understanding of what we offer and which tour is right for you.

Mission Beach Skydiving

If you’re simply looking for a classic Australian skydiving experience, the Mission Beach Skydiving trip from Jump the Beach is an excellent choice. On this trip, you will experience some of the best skydiving in the world, led by an expert crew of divemasters.

You will begin the day by getting picked up at your Cairns accommodation or by meeting up with our team in Mission Beach. From there, you will get a comprehensive safety briefing and instructions on what to expect from your jump. Our tandem skydive masters will help you feel at ease about the exhilarating experience to come and get you excited about your big adventure.

Once you board the plane, the reality of your upcoming jump will begin to set in as you ascend to the appropriate altitude. When you’ve reached the right height, your instructor will assist you with stepping out of the plane and experiencing the magic of skydiving.

Your beach skydive officially begins now, at 14,000 feet above the ground. For the first 60 seconds, you will freefall and marvel at the magnificent feeling of zooming through the crisp air. Following that first minute, your instructor will begin executing turns and spirals for the next several minutes as you slow down and float back toward the earth.

When you’ve landed safely back in the Mission Beach drop zone, you will be full of energy as you recount the past moments. Take some deep breaths and smile with pride as you consider what you’ve just accomplished.

The dive team will award you with a personalised certificate to commemorate your achievement before you head to a renowned local restaurant for a well-deserved meal. After the jump, you’ll have some time to enjoy the amenities at the nearby Castaway Resort, including use of the pool, bar and gym.

Mission Possible Combo - Mission Beach Skydive & Tully Raft

If you want to take your holiday to the next level, check out the Mission Possible Combo tour. This fast-paced adventure includes a Mission Beach skydive as well as a full day of rafting down the nearby Tully River.

This combination tour is ideal for travellers who want to mix and match their activities. Once you’ve booked, you can choose whether you want to skydive or raft first, and then complete the other activity on the following day. If you’re short on time, you might want to consider the Thrills and Spills Combo tour, which packs skydiving and river rafting into a single day.

The rafting trip by Raging Thunder complements the skydive nicely, allowing you to admire the diverse beauty of Far North Queensland from another perspective. Just like with the skydive, there is no experience required to join the river rafting voyage, but you must be a confident swimmer to participate.

The Tully flows through the stunning Tully Gorge National Park, which is protected as part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. During your excursion down the river, you will have the opportunity to admire the gorgeous scenery that surrounds you as you battle the raging rapids ahead.

The river has some challenging grade 3-4 rapids, which your experienced guides will help you get through as you smile, scream and hold on to the raft tightly. After you wrap up the first half of your five-hour trip, you’ll be treated to a delicious Aussie BBQ lunch alongside the river. Then you’ll jump back on your raft for another two-and-a-half hours of excitement and adventure.

At the end of your fun day out, you will be returned to your accommodation in Cairns or Mission Beach, where you can reflect on your accomplishment and relax after a strenuous day - especially if you’re waking up early the next day for your skydive!

The Tully River Full-Day Trip operates daily throughout the year, and there are guaranteed water levels all year round. Rafting newcomers are welcome to join the tour, as long as they are at least 13 years old.
