Mission Beach is a haven for adventure lovers, so many people choose to take part in multiple adrenaline-packed activities while they’re in town. With rainforests, rivers and beaches, there’s certainly no shortage of outdoor experiences in this area.

One of the most popular combination tours includes a river rafting trip as well as a skydive over the beach. Learn more about both of these heart-racing activities below and see if they’re right for you.

Mission Beach White Water Rafting
On this full-day tour, your experienced guides will take you down the scenic Tully River, located just a short drive inland from Mission Beach. The Tully is a well-known spot for river rafting and features grade 3-4 rapids, which your guides will help you traverse.

Your heart will be racing as you work your way down the river, tackling rapids and shooting through the water. As your voyage goes on, make sure to look around and enjoy the sights of the World Heritage-listed rainforest that surrounds you. The Tully Gorge National Park is gorgeous and a quintessential part of Far North Queensland for visitors to experience.

After you finish the first half of the five-hour tour, you’ll stop along the river bank to enjoy a delectable BBQ lunch and get to know your fellow rafters better. You can also take this time to ask questions of your guides, who will be happy to share their expertise.

You’ll feel a massive sense of accomplishment after a day spent rafting the Tully, especially if it’s your first time trying it out. You don’t need to have any rafting experience to join the trip, but you should be comfortable with swimming and be at least 13 years old.

Once you’re back on land, you can purchase professional photos and souvenirs from your trip so that you can share the highlights with your friends and family back home.

The tour departs daily throughout the year, with guaranteed water levels all year round. You can get picked up from your Cairns or Mission Beach accommodation, or you can opt to meet your fellow rafters and guides in Tully.

Mission Beach Skydiving
Once you’ve explored the area by water, it’s time to see it from the sky. On this exhilarating tandem skydiving trip, you will observe Mission Beach from 14,000 feet in the air as you soar down toward it. As you glide back to earth, you’ll get a chance to see how land and sea merge beautifully.

In addition to Mission Beach, you will also be able to see other breathtaking sights during your skydive, including the rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. A skydive in Mission Beach is much more than just an adrenalin-pumping adventure; it’s also a unique way to see the stunning landscape of Far North Queensland.

After you step out of the plane, you’ll experience a 60-second freefall. From there, your tandem skydive master will guide you through a series of controlled turns and spirals for the next several minutes as you cruise back down to land.

Once you’ve completed your skydive, you will be rewarded with a personalised certificate that commemorates your achievement. Then you’ll be treated to breakfast or lunch at a nearby restaurant, before spending some time enjoying the facilities at a local beach resort.

Our skydiving trips operate daily all year (depending on the weather). The tour includes return transfer from your Cairns accommodation, or you can choose to meet up with your group closer to the drop zone.

Whether you choose to try your hand at skydiving, white water rafting Mission Beach or both, you’re in for an unparalleled experience. There’s simply nothing like the rush that you get from soaring through the sky or battling rapids down a raging river.

At the end of your skydiving and rafting combo trip, you’ll feel proud knowing that you challenged yourself to complete these amazing adventures that you’ll remember for a lifetime.
