Description
Half Day Canyon Tour
If you’re looking for a truly unique and exciting adrenaline rush and a chance to explore the beauty of Tasmania’s wilderness, Cradle Mountain Canyon’s half-day Lost World Canyon tour is ideal for you. Encapsulating all the wonder and romanticism of its name, the Lost World Canyon is a breathtaking spectacle that you can explore with the friendly and highly capable tour guides.
Canyoning at Cradle Mountain involves pulling on a sturdy wetsuit, accompanying your excellent guides to a steep, upper section of the gorgeous Dove River and then making your way down; however, your route down isn’t going to be a total Sunday stroll – it involves swimming down naturally formed water slides, jumping down rushing waterfalls and abseiling down cliffs!
While a moderate level of fitness and the ability to swim is essential for this tour, the Lost World Canyon option is primarily designed for beginners. This absolute must-do activity for adrenaline junkies and wilderness lovers (eight years and up) allows you to experience all the facets of wild canyoning, but without the inherent dangers of wild canyoning or the knuckle-whitening element of Cradle Mountain Canyon’s more difficult options.
During your one hour adventure – floating and walking through this magnificent section of the Dove River – you will experience the beauty of Tasmania in all of its stunning glory. The picturesque quartzite gorges act as an amazing backdrop to the button-grassed landscape and rushing white water. Ancient pine trees shelter this area and provide a home to many forms of wildlife, so keep your eyes out for the resident wombats!
The two guides that will accompany you and keep you safe are fully qualified in First Aid, Swift Water Rescue and Abseil, so you can fully relax and enjoy every second of your experience. You will always remember your unique and exciting Lost World Canyoning experience – there’s really nothing quite like it!
