Description
Alice Springs to Darwin (One Way)
This amazing three-day adventure will allow you to experience the true beauty of Australia’s outback. Journey through some of the most stunning terrain in the world on your way from Alice Springs to Darwin. See the iconic Devils Marbles, enjoy the therapeutic Mataranka Thermal Pools and take cruise along the majestic Katherine Gorge – a truly unique and memorable way to travel!
Day 1
Your adventure through the Northern Territory begins at approximately 6.00am, when you will be collected in air-conditioned comfort from your Alice Springs accommodation. Heading north from Alice Springs, you’ll cross the Tropic of Capricorn - in fact 80% of the Northern Territory lies north of this point.
Stop at the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) which are a collection of gigantic granite boulders magically balanced on top of one another. The Devils Marbles are of great significance to the Aboriginal people and this sacred place buzzes with an amazing atmosphere. End your day by comfortably camping at the historic Banka Cattle Station, just north of Tennant Creek.
Day 2
Enjoy a ‘fair dinkum outback experience’ with a visit to the Daly Waters Pub. This was an important rest stop and watering hole for drovers and cattle herders in days gone by, but remains a great destination for tourists in search of a cold beer, a good meal and a bit of history!
Later in the day, you will visit the indulgent Mataranka thermal pools, a gorgeous outdoor pool surrounded by natural flora, where you can soak your aches and pains away in the warm, crystal clear waters of the natural pool. The water is spring fed and remains a fairly constant temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. You will spend the night enjoying the company of your companions as you camp at a nearby campsite.
Day 3
The final day of your Northern Territory safari begins early in the morning. Your guide will take you on a short drive to the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park. The traditional Indigenous landowners of this area are the Jawoyn Aboriginal people and you can see authentic Aboriginal art in many places on the sandstone. The picturesque Katherine Gorge is carved through the ancient sandstone by the Katherine River and is a truly awe inspiring sight. You may choose to embark on an optional boat cruise, or paddle a canoe (additional fee) through the peaceful water.
In the afternoon, relax and watch the changing landscape as you travel to cosmopolitan Darwin. The tour finishes at 5:30pm, after which you will make your own way to your Darwin accommodation.

Hi Roger. I'm so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your 3 Day Alice Springs to Darwin tour with Way Outback. Way Outback have a great reputation in the industry which is why we have chosen to list their tours on our website, so your comments are surprising yet extremely concerning. We take customer feedback very seriously so I have contacted the manager of Way Outback requesting a detailed explanation of why one of our valued customers had such a terrible experience on one of their iconic tours. Once I hear back from them I will contact you via email with their comments and any explanation.
On a side note, it does appear that you may have accidentally given the Everything Travel Group (whom you booked this tour through) a bad service rating when it appears you were actually referring to the bad service you received on your 3 day tour from the actual tour operator.
Thank you again for taking the time to offer your comments. It is because of customers like yourself providing invaluable feedback that allows tour operators to continue to improve their level of service and helps us ensure we only offer the best tours and experiences on our travel websites.
