Adventure Moreton Island - Scuba Diving

Description

Whether you are a novice scuba diver or have your PADI certification, Adventure Moreton Island will make sure that you experience the most amazing scuba diving experience, tailored to suit your abilities.  

Departing from Brisbane’s Holt Wharf at 8:00am and returning at approx 5:00pm, you will enjoy a full day out at one of the most famous and widely-explored wrecks on Moreton Island – the Tangalooma Wrecks.

Only a short swim from the beach, the Tangalooma Wrecks are in fact made up of 15 old Harbours and Marine Department steam-driven dredges and barges, which were deliberately sunk in 1963 on the edge of a sandbank to create a break wall. These vessels were sunk after a group of boat owners requested the construction of a man-made harbour just off the island. Now – after over half a century of submersion in the ocean – these vessels have become home to a marvellous ecosystem of marine life and have also created a simply exceptional location for wreck diving and snorkelling. Unlike many other dive sites, the Tangalooma Wrecks offer every diving environment in one area; including reef, wreck, drift and naturalist.

The depth of the dive site at the Tangalooma Wrecks is between 2 and 10 metres and the visibility under the water is incredible, on average about 8 metres. These crystal clear waters provide divers the opportunity to explore the ship wrecks while swimming alongside wobbegongs (carpet sharks) and among schools of trevally and kingfish yellowtail. 

You can also see thousands of tropical fish species playing amongst the coral formations as well as brightly coloured nudibranchs, urchins and sponges. Luckily – for snorkelers and scuba divers alike – the creatures that inhabit the wrecks are accustomed to human presence, allowing visitors to almost reach out and touch them. You will be awe inspired by the amazing intimacy you feel as you swim with these magnificent sea creatures.

Introductory Diving
If you have never been scuba diving before, that’s not a problem. As all training and tuition is undertaken once you are on Moreton Island, you don't need to have had any prior diving experience to participate as an introductory diver. The only requirements are that you are over 12 years of age and are able to pass a medical questionnaire that will be given after you board the boat in the morning. 

All scuba diving equipment is provided, all you need to bring is a swimming costume, towel and sunscreen.

• Certified or Introductory Scuba Dive including all equipment
• All bonus activities - double or single kayak hire (1 hr), snorkel gear hire (1 hr), SUP hire (1 hr) & land activities such as such as mini golf, basketball and tennis

• Please read the important dive information before booking your intro or certified dive
• If your group is a mix of intro & certified divers, you must book all intro dives in order to dive together
• If you are doing an Introductory or Certified Dive Package, you will be asked to fill out a medical form on the day
• Bonus activities are to be booked on arrival at Tangatours Watersports at Tangalooma. No pre-bookings
• Bring with you a change of clothes, swimwear, towel, sunscreen, water, food or money for food
