Whale Watching & Sailing Experience
Description
Join the Whale and Sail day trip for a once in a lifetime adventure. This is not your typical "whale watching" experience and instead you will be on board the Soren Larsen tall ship actively sailing as you keep watch for whales. The Soren Larsen is an authentic, large wooden square rigger tall ship. Challenge yourself to climb the mast or else participate in setting the sails and other boat manoeuvres if the mast climb is too daunting. It takes a team of over 20 people to hoist the main sail so get involved and join in on the action to really make the most of your adventure. The crew are there to help those who want to actively participate and learn more about the ropes, but nothing is compulsory and no experience is necessary.
With the annual Great Whale Migration there are thousands of humpback and southern right whales that come within close proximity to the Sydney coastline. The tranquillity of the Soren Larsen tall ship caters perfectly for whale watching by minimising the impact on the whales' environment. The open deck also ensures unrestricted viewing of the whales is available for all. Feel the thrill and freedom of sailing the open sea on the authentic square rigger as you marvel at the enormous sea creatures in their own environment.
Mast Climb
Everyone will have the option to climb the mast to help spot whales and enjoy spectacular harbour views. A specially designed harness is worn and full tuition is provided by the crew. You will enjoy a true sense of achievement as you combat the climb and bask in the resulting picturesque views.
