During the period of mid August to the end of October, the pods of adult and calf humpback whales enjoy a rest in the Exmouth Gulf waters before continuing their journey down the West Coast to the feeding grounds of Antarctica. During this time, countless pods of whales can be admired on the Ningaloo Reef whale watching tour as they sprawl in the protected waters of the Gulf playing. Watch and be amazed as they perform spy hops, tail slaps, breeches, pectoral slapping and bubble blowing. Ocean Eco Adventures whale watching tours have a hydrophone fitted on board allowing guests to eavesdrop on the calls of the whales as they create melodies under water.
