Home to thousands of aquatic animals and centrally located on the banks of the Yarra river, Melbourne Sea Life Aquarium is an entertaining and educational experience featuring twelve exciting zones to discover and enjoy.
Visitors will be transported to Australia’s spectacular landscapes and encounter the unique aquatic animals that call them home.
Be mesmerised as you experience a rainbow of colours at Seahorse Pier and explore the depths of the Port Phillip Bay in Bay of Rays, home to the world’s only display of Elephant Sharks.
Journey to the diverse landscape of the Northern Territory in Croc Lair and come face-to-face with Pinjarra, one of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles on display anywhere in the world!
Prepare to be transported to the lush, humid and balmy temperatures of the tropical north in Rainforest Creatures where you can wonder at some of the truly unique animals not found anywhere else in the world including the world’s largest display of Archerfish!
Penguin Playground completes the unforgettable experience where visitors can marvel as the majestic King and cheeky Gentoo Penguins slip and slide across the snow-covered ice.

Other Information
- The Melbourne Aquarium is a short walk from either Flinders street or Southern Cross train stations right in the centre of Melbourne on the Yarra river
- Talks take place throughout the day. Simply look out for the big clock at each area to see when the next talk will begin
- If you are after a coffee, or hungry for a hearty meal the Coral Cafe has something for you. Our cafe has a wide range of hot and cold foods including burgers, fish & chips, seafood, hot dogs, pies & sausage rolls, as well as fresh daily made sandwiches, salads & wraps
- Child rates apply (3-15yrs) & kids under 3 are free. Children must be accompanied by an adult
- The last entry is at 4pm with the doors closing at 5pm
- We recommend that you allow around 90 minutes for your visit
- Melbourne Aquarium provides people in wheelchairs full access to all exhibits. Each floor of the aquarium is accessible via either a lift or ramp. Each level also has wheelchair accessible toilets
