do people in their mid 60's do this trip? My partner does not snorkel - can he find a tree and relax under it? Will he be the odd man out and therefore uncomfortable? My guess is YES so please be honest.

Yes many people in their mid 60's go to the Great Barrier Reef and you don't have to snorkel, just the trip out there is stunning enough. He may very well be the only person that does not go for a snorkel but by no means the off one out as snorkeling is only one part of this trip. I myself have been to the reef with people that have not even got in the ocean.
