Litchfield National Park can be done on a day trip, where you can swim underneath breathtaking waterfalls. Arnhem Land, an Aboriginal reserve that strives to preserve traditional indigenous ways of life, requires a permit to enter and can reward you with some fabulous fishing. And neighbouring World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park will reward you with unparalleled Aboriginal art, rivers, waterfalls and lagoons, and an amazing amount of wildlife including a few crocodiles. A little further a field is the spectacular Katherine Gorge within the Nitmiluk National Park which can be taken in by a cruise.
