With all the trappings of a flash, modern city, Brisbane for a long time was viewed as a big country town with a relaxed, almost languid lifestyle brought on by the subtropical climate. And this was just the way the ever-friendly locals liked it. However it seems the secret is out, and people have been flocking to call Brisbane home in recent years to make it one of the fastest growing regions in Australia.
While a lot of the attraction of Brisbane is just the actual lifestyle that goes with a cosmopolitan city (albeit at a slower pace) with great weather, there is plenty to see and do for visitors. Kick up your heels in Fortitude Valley, take it easy on beaches you feel like you have to yourself on North Stradbroke Island, and take on all the usual marine activities around Moreton Island as well as enjoying the tasty bugs that are named in the bay’s honour. There’s plenty to take in, just make sure you don’t rush while you’re doing it.
